A Winona man will appear in Winona City Court today for a preliminary hearing.
Auntonio Hardy, 33, of Winona is charged with simple assault on medical personnel, a felony.
According to Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, Hardy was arrested in the early morning hours Sunday after an incident that took place at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital.
Herod said Hardy stands accused of physically assaulting a nurse while being treated for an undisclosed matter.
Simple assault of medical personnel carries the same penalty as assaulting a police officer or firefighter.
Hardy is being held at the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden. Bond had not been set as of press time Wednesday.
