A Winona man will spend 30 days in jail after allegedly pushing an officer while being arrested.
Lemon Covington, 28, Winona was arrested for driving under the influence, improper equipment, driving without or with an expired license, careless driving, simple assault on a policeman, fireman, school official or an employee of a private correctional facility in line of duty and no insurance by the Winona Police Department.
During the incident, Judge Alan D. Lancaster asked Covington if he pushed an officer during the traffic stop.
“I understand that there may have been some touching or pushing?” Lancaster asked.
Covington admitted to the incident. Lancaster then sentenced Covington to serve to 60 days with 30 days suspended. He was also ordered to attend Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program classes.
