All roads lead to Avalon as many music lovers will travel to the home of Mississippi John Hurt to celebrate the Mississippi John Hurt Festival Saturday Oct. 5 and Sunday Oct. 6
This year’s curator is Taj Mahal. Hurt said Taj Mahal is a well-known, renowned musician who met her grandfather when he was 19-years-old.
Saturday’s line up also includes: The Howard Curry Duo, Dom Flemmons, Piedmont Bluz Acoustic Duo, Jim Kweskin, Guy Davis with Christopher James, Taj Mahal with special guest Jesse Colin Young.
Sunday features an open mic, Como Mamas, Gigi Iam, Pastor Jay Terrell with Country Jim and more to be confirmed.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the Mississippi John Hurt Foundation in support of musical instruction for youth and disadvantaged women.
