A Jackson man has been bound over to the action of the Montgomery County Grand Jury for two counts of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling from an incident that occurred on January 14.
Jeremy Lane has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling after he allegedly shot at Charles Fleming and Nakeva Robinson.
Fleming testified in a preliminary hearing in Winona City Court last Thursday that he and Robinson pulled up to his mother’s home on Campbell Street when Lane pulled up behind him.
“I don’t even know how that dude know where I stay. He pulled up out of nowhere like he was following me or something,” he said. “He asked me, ‘What you say to my cousin?’ and I asked him what I supposedly said to his cousin but he never answered me.”
He said Lane pulled off, circled back and began firing.
“I was watching behind the door because I don’t know what this dude on,” he said.
Fleming said he and Robinson were behind the door when Lane pulled back up to the home and started firing. He said one of the bullets hit the glass but missed him by very little.
“If he were a good shot, he would’ve hit you, huh?” Judge Alan D. Lancaster asked Fleming.
“Yeah, he would have,” Fleming said.
Fleming testified that when Lane started firing, he pushed Robinson down to the ground and covered her. Fleming said they were the only two home and no one was injured.
Captain Dan Herod, Chief Investigator for the Winona Police Department, said he went to the home the following day and saw there were bullet holes riddled throughout the home.
“One of the bullets went through the living room and hit a wall and on the other side of the wall is a bedroom,” Herod said.
He testified that bullet holes were going from the west side to the east side of the home.
Lancaster said he believed there was probable cause to bound Lane over to the action of the Montgomery County Grand Jury. His bond was set at $225,000.
In another case, Brigette McAllister waived her right to a preliminary hearing. McAllister is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
Lancaster bound her over to the action of the Montgomery County Grand Jury.
