Longtime Deputy Circuit Clerk Brenda King is retiring after 23 years of working with the people of Carroll County.
Stanton told Supervisors Monday that King would be retiring at the end of October. King said she began when K.T. Streeter and Billy Welch were in office.
“So, I’ve been around for quite some time,” she said. “But, I’m going to miss all of you and miss working with you.”
“And we’re going to miss your snacks,” Supervisor Dill Tucker said.
King told supervisors that she’ll still bring them snacks every once in a while.
“It’s been fun, but I think I’m ready to go. I want to go spend time with my grandbabies and I have four sisters and we can travel. And, it’ll feel nice not having to answer to anybody,” she said, laughing.
“You’ve done a great job and we’re going to miss you,” Board President Rickie Corley said.
Also, Supervisor Jim Neill said he’d been sent two pictures of the what the plaque for the George I. Johnson Walking Trail will look like.
“Since it’s honoring him, I think Mr. George should decide on which one he likes,” Corley said.
Johnson chose the plaque that was etched with gold lettering and a gold border.
“I wasn’t expecting any of this,” Johnson said. “It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m just thankful that y’all want to honor me. I appreciate it.”
