The Town of Duck Hill meetings are usually short and to the point, but Monday’s night meeting wasn’t. Many citizens came out to the board meeting to complain about their garbage service. WastePro, the garbage company, has a contract with Duck Hill to pick up on Wednesdays, but for the last month or so, pick up has not been on schedule and residents are angry.
Randall Dowdle with WastePro acknowledged the company has been off schedule, and told citizens the company has had trouble with drivers. Dowdle assured residents that WastePro would be back on track.
Also, in July, Delores Everett asked the board to reimburse her for two tires she said were damaged on Mother’s Day when she came to visit her mother. According to Everett, she hit a pot hole that was “big enough to put a baby and a baby carrier in.” The board decided not to reimburse Everett for her tires.
County workers have begun work in Duck Hill on several roads. Before the election, the county started work on Church Street but hadn’t been back. According to Patricia “Sooky” Currington, the county is scheduled to come back at the end of the month.
