Carroll County is slowly beginning to see some recovery money roll in from the flooding that happened in February 2019. Emergency Management and Civil Defense Director Ken Strachan said the county has seen some FEMA recovery money roll in.
The Vaiden Clinic and a project in Supervisor Claude Fluker’s beat have been awarded. Vaiden Clinic was awarded $6,900 and the Beat 4 project was awarded $55,000. There are several projects that are awaiting approval from FEMA.
Strachan said there are several different projects out in every district and FEMA will send a letter letting the county know if they were awarded the money or not and he’s confident the county will begin to receive letters stating the project have been “obligated” or awarded.
“We should see some to start come in this week or next week,” He said in all the county is expecting $800,000 back.
In Vaiden, Mayor Mel Hawthorne told the board of aldermen they were awarded FEMA money in the amount of $26,000 for the work on the sewage line that was damaged on County Road 430.
“We can take care of that over by Bill Winston’s place,” Hawthorne said.
