Carroll Academy students picked up educational packets this week to continue learning at home while schools are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Headmaster Penny Mitchell, materials in the packets will be returned each week to be graded, and another packet will be picked up.
Mitchell said soon elementary students will be using Class Dojo, an online virtual classroom, where teachers can upload videos of lessons.
Grades sixth through 12 teachers will use another service to post assignments and some videos of classes.
“We are kind of taking this one step at a time,” said Mitchell. “This week’s work was kind of a review to get students back into school mode.”
Mitchell said with the school closed through April 17, students need to continue learning for the remainder of the school year, and teachers are being creative in their approaches.
“We are following the governor’s recommendation on staying closed until April 17, and then we are all hoping to get back to school.”
