A North Mississippi man was arrested when police responded to reports of gunshots in the city.
Steve Cole Dungan, 31, of Byhalia was arrested and charged with two counts of discharging a firearm in the city limits and one count of possession of a stolen handgun.
According to Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, on Monday, December 10, 2018, at around 5 p.m., Winona police responded to a call reporting shots fired near the trailer park on Anderson Street.
Herod said he arrived at the scene soon after Officer Bryant Bell where they identified the suspect and allegedly found him in possession of a handgun which had been reported stolen from North Carolina.
“We also received several hundred different brands of ammunition,” Herod said. “From .22 caliber to 223 rifle ammo to shotgun ammo.”
Herod said bond was set at $100,000, and he is being held at the Carroll-Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden. A preliminary hearing for Dungan is set for today at 9 a.m. in Winona City Court.
