A young man will spend 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to a 2018 murder.
Tredarius Tremondre “T.T.” Burt, 18, of North Carrollton pleaded guilty to second degree murder for shooting Juandavious Hill, 20, of North Carrollton on Van Meter Street in North Carrollton on the evening of March 20, 2018. He was sentenced to 25 years as part of a plea agreement with the court, and Circuit Judge George Mitchell handed down the sentence on May 23 at the Carroll County Courthouse in Carrollton.
According to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker at the time of the murder, Carroll County deputies responded to a shooting on Van Meter Street in North Carrollton around 6:30 p.m. the evening of March 20, 2018. When then arrived at the scene, Hill was found shot to death in the middle of the street.
Walker said multiple people witnessed the shooting and reported to deputies that Burt was the alleged shooter.
“There were multiple witnesses,” Walker said. “Witnesses said [Hill and Burt] were in a verbal altercation in the middle of the street when Hill was shot multiple times. Witnesses gave deputies the name of the suspect.”
Deputies located Burt at his mother’s home, located at 512 Marshall Street in North Carrollton, around 6:45 p.m., and Burt was taken into police custody.
In what Walker said is a related case, the house at which Burt was arrested burned just hours after the shooting. Walker said the home was a complete loss, “down to the slab.”
The fire was ruled arson by investigators.
Walker said those living in the house, family members of Burt, had left the home earlier in the night after they received threats against their family.
No arrests have been made in the arson case, and the case remains open, according to Walker.
