DUCK HILL -- When many heard the Bogue Creek Festival was returning, many vendors got on board. Miranda Dean, secretary for the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department, said they’re anticipating the festival to be big and the crowd to be bigger.
“The Duck Hill Lions Club and Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department have been super busy. We will have a very big festival this year,” Dean said. “We will be there bright and early Saturday morning to held vendors find their booths and food trailer spots. The Red Hill VFD will be selling sauages and biscuits for the early birds.”
Dean said there should be around 50 booths this year, give or take, and a lot of food vendors. No matter what you’re looking for, you’ll probably be able to find it at the Bogue Creek Festival. From wood carvers, to rock sculptors, to jewelry, to hanging signs -- there’s probably a booth for it.
Vendors include Fry Daddies, Daniells Elay’s Keto Coffee, Mr. Downs from Carrollton, Mary Ann Smith, Carla Rogers, Sassy’s Fun Finds, David Newton- Homemade Cedar, Nik Harmon, Whimsical Soaps and Candles, Mississippi Black Pot Porkskins, Hannah Davis, T & G BBQ, Valerie Hammer, Sunshine’s Diner, Jordan’s Jubilant Scents, Pear Tree Pottery, La Familia Mexican Food, Cummings Wood Products, Mary the Grape Bows, James Harrison, Jane Swan, Diane Agnew, Tiki’s Sno-Hut, Blessed Queens, Nikki Lane- LimeLife by Alcone, Havis’ Kids, Carrie Hickson, Jolly Jumpers, Robert Embry, Scentsy by Renay Wiggins, Discovery Toys by Olivia Denton, John Fondren, Horseback Rides with Haley Fleming, Richelle Palmer – Papparazzi Jewelry, H.B. “We will have barbeque, loaded fries, original Mexican food, burgers, hot dogs, etc. We will also have a funnel cake trailer and a snow cone trailer coming for kids of all ages.”
She said there will also be things for the kids to enjoy as well.
“There will be horse and pony rides, Jolly Jumpers will be there with slides and jumpers, train rides for everyone. We’ll also have pictures behind the firemen poster available for kids and will be sellings firemen hats, stickers, tattoos, bracelets and more. Mickey and Minnie will also be there.”
This year’s Master of Ceremony will be John Laster. The festival will kick off at 8 a.m. with the posting of colors by the American Legion Team and the singing of the National Anthem by Wendy Ray. Then, Mayor Joey Cooley will welcome those in attendance to Duck Hill and to the Bogue Creek Festival, followed by a devotional by Cole Surrell.
Entertainment begins with Pine Blakely and the Fisher Crossing Band, opening at 9:30 a.m., with 30 minutes intervals between performers. Dean said in those intervals, political candidates are welcomed to speak but it’s not a political rally.
Performers include Blakely, The Generations and Becky Gorman, The Good Ole Boys, The Duck Hill Hillbillies, Anchored Ministries and Dolinda Malone, The Disciples, Garrett Oswalt, Jake Harrison, Wesley Edwards, The Pounders Family, Two for God and concludes with Betty Bennett closing out the entertainment at 3:30 p.m.
“Bring your lawn chairs and set them up in Pecan Grove to enjoy the entertainment. You don’t want to miss this,” Dean said.
