DUCK HILL -- The Bogue Creek Festival will be held Sept. 7 in Lancaster Grove in Duck Hill. The festival is a partnership of the Duck Hill Lions Club and the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
The festival will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be entertainment, vendors, pony rides and live music. In an earlier interview, Miranda Dean, secretary for the Red Hills Volunteer Fire Department, also said there will be a slot for candidates in the upcoming Nov. 5 general election to speak but it won’t be like a political rally.
In 2018, the Duck Hill Lions Club announced that it would be the last festival the club would sponsor. Organizer Nancy Kirk said it had become too much for the group to do, as the membership was getting older. Dean said in August when they learned it was coming to an end, the fire department reached out to club members to join in.
The festival is the only fundraiser for the Duck Hill Lions Club and profits will be split 50/50 between both groups, as the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department work to get a fire station placed in the Alva-Red Hill community.
Dean said when people learned the festival was returning, many vendors began to fill slots. She said vendor booths are $30 without electricity and $40 with electricity.
