After assessing what all they would have to do in order to begin the superintendent search themselves, the Carroll County School Board decided to do a much simpler route. During their Thursday, March 28 special call meeting at the Carroll County Central Office, the board voted to allow the Mississippi School Board Association to perform an abbreviated search, for $3,000.
The MSBA would screen candidates, go through applications and send candidates to the school board to be interviewed. Also, there are no community town hall meetings with this search.
Executive Director of the MSBA Mike Waldrip said the biggest difference between the two searches is the school board takes more responsibility themselves with the interviewers.
“They don’t use us to do the interviewing process and they are no stakeholders meetings,” Waldrip said.
The board will hold their regular board meeting at 5 p.m. at the Vaiden Town Hall Thursday.
