WINONA – District 1 Supervisor Keith McGee will continue as president of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors this year, the fourth consecutive year he was elected by his fellow board members. District 3 Supervisor Willie Townsend, Jr., was elected vice president of the board for 2019.
After electing officers at Monday’s first meeting of the new year, the board of supervisors voted to rehire all county employees and re-appoint the same personnel to the positions of board attorney, Alan D. Lancaster; county administrator (no compensation), Ryan Wood; comptroller, Ryan Wood; county engineer, Christian Gardener; road manager, Chris Breazeale; and county fire coordinator and emergency management director, Allan Pratt. Wood was also re-appointed as purchase clerk and inventory clerk, with no compensation, and Terri Wilson was re-appointed as receiving clerk.
The board re-appointed Annye Henson to another four-year term as jury commissioner for the county, and it re-appointed members to the North Central Planning and Development District’s board of directors and executive committee. Representing Montgomery County on the board of directors are Charlie Lee, Talmadge Golding, Chancery Clerk Ryan Wood, District 5 Supervisor Janet Harper, and McGee. McGee was also re-appointed to the executive committee.
In regards to the county’s ambulance service, the county authorized the extension of the original agreement with MedStat for four years. The new agreement does not include any changes to the original agreement.
In other county business:
• The board authorized Breazeale to purchase a belly-mount trailer to haul gravel for no more than $25,000.
• The board recessed the meeting until Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 8 a.m. in the board room at the Montgomery County Courthouse. Montgomery County offices will be closed on Monday, January 21 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
