The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors voted to take bids on mowing the grass around county-owned buildings -- Montgomery County Courthouse, Justice Court Complex, and Health Department -- due to the time contrants of County Maintenance Supervisor Lee Collins.
The board voted to advertise for bids in an upcoming edition of The Winona Times.
In other county business:
• The board gave the go-ahead on Sheriff Jeff Tompkins getting two quotes for the EForce reporting software, which is mandated by the state.
According to Tompkins, the cost of the software is approximately $28,000, but there is an $4,000 annual maintenance fee that he does not currently have in his budget. Tompkins said he could pay for the software with seized drug money, however, he would need help with the annual fee.
The measure was tabled until Tompkins can get two quotes.
• The board voted to hire Cordaris Gholston as a deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
• The board voted to participate in the 2020 update of the District 3 Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
• The board voted to allow Central Mississippi, Inc. to use the former Emergency Operations Center building for $1 per year lease.
