With a very vague explanation, a Winona man and a Vaiden man were released after their charges of aggravated assault were dismissed while another Winona man had his bond reduced from $200,000 to $10,000.
In the Thursday, May 23 session of Winona Municipal Court, Judge Alan D. Lancaster dismissed the charges of aggravated assault against JaTyler Moore of Winona and Terrell Hudson of Vaiden. Lancaster told the men that there wasn’t enough evidence for the City of Winona to hold them and dismissed the charges without prejudice.
He further explained that if, for any reason, during the investigation it was found that there was sufficient evidence found in the case, they could still be arrested on the same charge.
Lancaster reduced the bond of Kentarius Hobbs of Winona, who was also charged with aggravated assault.
Originally, Hobbs bond was set at $200,000, but Lancaster reduced his bond to $10,000. During his initial appearance Lancaster said, according to the affidavit, Hobbs allegedly shot into an occupied vehicle.
City Prosecutor Putt Crull, Jr. said there was more evidence to hold Hobbs on the charges and stated that “his evidence walked out the door” when Hudson and Moore left.
Hobbs has not yet had his preliminary hearing and the case is being continued.
Captain Dan Herod with the Winona Police Department would not comment on the case, as it is still under investigation.
