National Library Week is April 7 – 13 this year. This year's theme, "Ready, Set, Library!", embodies the heart of what libraries stand for in our connected world. All the while, celebrating the vital role of libraries in our communities. The theme for National Library Week 2024 resonates with the fast-paced world we live in, reminding us that libraries are the go-to place. They provide a safe space to connect, learn, and focus on what truly matters.
We have a week full of activities planned during National Library Week and others planned throughout the month. I hope you will mark your calendars and make plans to attend many of the programs we have planned.
Activities planned are:
Puzzle and activity packets will be available for all ages throughout the month of April on Spring, Earth Day, and the weather. Just come by and pick up one or two.
- April 3 at 10 a.m.: Pottery Workshop, this is only for the people who pre-registered and paid the supply fee.
- April 4 at 3:30 p.m.: Children in kindergarten through 6th grade join us for Team S.T.E.A.M., a fun time of experiments, art, and other fun hands-on activities.
- April 8 – 12: During National Library week come in and place stickers on our sticker mosaic.
- April 8 at 1:40 p.m. – 2 p.m.: Join us as we watch the solar eclipse. We will have different ways to view it.
- April 8 at 2 p.m.: Join us for Bingo! Light refreshments will be available.
- April 9 at 3:30 p.m.: Children join us for “A Time to Blossom” Storytime. We will plant a flower for our activity.
- April 10 at noon: Winona Friends of the Library will host the First Lady of Mississippi, Elee Reeves at the Moore Memorial Family Life Building. Refreshments will be served at 11:30 a.m. with the program on literacy in Mississippi beginning at noon. This event is free to the public.
- April 11 at 9:30 a.m.: Join us for an adult crafting class. The class will be led by our Assistant Librarian, Dina Kilburn. We will be painting a spring canvas.
- April 18 at 2 p.m. - Children join us for Library Learners Homeschool Club.
- April 25 at 2 p.m. - Coffee Connections, adults join us for games and coloring. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
