Coming up in a few weeks is THANKSGIVING!!! Now I love Thanksgiving because it’s a holiday focused around food and football, two of my all time favorite things. Some of the things that happen on or during Thanksgiving are because they are tradition. A tradition is something you do every single year that holds a special meaning to you and your family.
For the Faulk family, one of our traditions is we wake up and watch the Macy’s Day Parade together. Even if we aren’t all at our parents house, we all watch it and talk about it over the phone or when we all get together. Another tradition for my family is the Egg Bowl. My dad and I will attend or watch the Egg Bowl every year together and it will never fail. At some point he and I will have a conversation about Egg Bowl's past and what we remember. I look forward to these things and others.
Now it is good to do new things, but it is also important not to forget the traditions that your family may have. In 1 Corinthians 11:2 Paul says, “Good job remembering me in everything you do by keeping the traditions that I showed you”.
Even with Jesus there are things important to remember and never let go of. During this time of Thanksgiving, think on your traditions, think on traditions that maybe your church or your family does to remember Jesus during this time, and even if they take a little extra work or they aren’t as exciting as you remember, please say Thank you to your parents and grandparents for the traditions that they passed on to you.
Remember Ms. Faulk loves you, but Jesus loves you more.
