The coronavirus has struck the J.Z. George girls basketball team again as the Lady Jaguars are in the middle of a 10-day quarantine with one girl on the team testing positive on Jan. 14.
“The girls will not return to practice or play any games until Jan. 25,” said J.Z. George athletic director Nathan Moncrief. “We’ve had to reschedule several district games, and also cancel a few that are not district games.”
J.Z. George did not play Region 2-2A foe Eupora on Jan. 15. Those two games will now be played on Jan. 28 in North Carrollton.
The Jaguars were slated to play Tuesday night at league opponent Calhoun City. The boys are just 0-2 on the season as they didn’t get started until Jan. 5 with back-to-back losses to Choctaw County and South Pontotoc.
The Lady Jags and Jaguars are scheduled to hit the court together on Jan. 26 at home against East Webster. After the games on Jan. 28 with Eupora, the girls travel to Calhoun City for a game on Jan. 30.
Both teams will visit Bruce on Feb. 1 and are slated to close out the regular season on Feb. 5 at Coffeeville.
Games with Grenada on Jan. 23 and Jan. 29 with Calhoun City have been canceled.
The Region 2 Tournament will be held the week of Feb. 9-12 at J.Z. George.
