The Winona Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect on drug-related charges following a traffic stop.
On August 6, officers with the Winona Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Liberty Street near N. Central Ave. The stop resulted in the arrest of Alecia Bassie, 47, of Greenwood, after officers seized a felony amount of methamphetamine and Hydrocodone from her possession.
Bassie was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Grenada County Jail, where she awaits a bond on charges including 2 Felony Counts of Possession of a Con-trolled Substance, 1 Misdemeanor Count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1 Mis-demeanor Count of Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle, and 1 Misdemeanor Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Chief Roshaun Daniels applauds the efforts of the officers involved, stating, “The safety of our community is our top priority. We remain committed to identifying and removing dan-gerous drugs from our streets, and today’s arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers.”
