The Winona Christian Stars picked up a big win over Indianola last week in a key district contest.
The Stars started fast and beat the Colonels 6-1 on Tuesday. The Stars ended the week with a 13-7 loss to rival Carroll on Friday.
Winona will return to play on Tuesday as they travel to Oak Hill and then host Central Holmes on Thursday to round out the week.
Winona Christian 6, Indianola 1
The Stars started fast and cruised to a five-run win over the Colonels on Tuesday.
Winona started fast with four runs in the first inning and finished with single runs in the fifth and sixth inning. Indianola scored its only run in the fifth.
Winona outhit Indianola 7-4 as Hayden Self was 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Dalton Wiggins doubled and scored while Blake Cooper homered and drove in two runs. Parker Bledsoe singled and scored while Davis Dew singled and drove in a run.
Collin Parkinson pitched 4 2/3 of an inning and gave up one run on three hits and four walks while striking out five. Cooper pitched the last 2 1/3 innings and gave up one hit and one walk.
Carroll 13, Winona Christian 7
The Stars fell behind early and dropped a six-run decision to the Rebels, falling to Carroll for the second time this season.
Winona scored two runs in the first inning and Carroll responded with five in the first and four in the second to lead 9-2. Each team scored three runs in the third inning as Carroll led 12-5 after three innings. Winona added a pair of one-run innings and Carrol added another run in the fifth for the final margin.
Each team had seven hits while Winona had five errors and Carroll committed four errors and each team drew six walks.
For Winona, Hayden Self was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs while Morgan Nance walked twice and doubled. Steele Mims walked twice and scored three runs while Dalton Wiggins, Blake Cooper and Parker Bledsoe each singled and scored.
Bledsoe started on the mound for Carroll and pitched 1 2/3 innings as he gave up nine runs, only two earned on one hit and five walks while striking out four. Cooper pitched the next 3 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on five hits while striking out three. Collin Parkinson pitched the last inning and gave up just one hit and struck out two.
