The Rebels trailed for most of the game and came up short in the end as the Mavericks pulled out the two-point win last week.
Manchester started fast as they led 16-9 at the end of first period. But Carroll fought back in the second period as they outscored the Mavericks 10-7 to cut the lead to 23-19 at the half. In a back-and-fourth third period, Manchester took the third period 18-17 and led 41-36 going into the fourth. The Rebels cut the lead to one late in the fourth and had a shot but couldn’t get it to fall as the Mavericks held on for the win.
“We started out slow and fought our way back and took the lead but couldn’t hand on,” Carroll coach Tommy Acy said. “It was an exciting game. It went back and forth. We had a good look at the basket that would have put us ahead and the shot just didn’t fall. Then we had to foul to put them up by two.”
Carroll had a balanced scoring attack in the contest as Mathis Beck led the Rebels with 13 points while Noah Beck had 11 points. Hunter Grantham scored 10 points and Bryce Collier added nine points.
