The Mississippi High School Activities Association Executive Committee has set deadlines of Aug. 17 for receipt of applications for executive director and Sept. 17 for announcement of the selection. The position will become vacant Dec. 31 with the retirement of Don Hinton, who has served as executive director since July 1, 2011.
Qualifications for the position include a Master’s degree with emphasis on education and at least 10 years of secondary level school administration experience and proven ability to manage athletics and activities. An advanced degree is preferred.
Also required are outstanding oral and written communication skills, demonstrated writing and speaking ability, well-developed human relations and interpersonal skills and successful team building skills. Candidates who have served on the 15-member MHSAA Executive Committee or MHSAA Legislative Council one full term will receive preference.
The Executive Committee will conduct interviews Sep. 8-10.
