It was a busy week for the Carroll Academy basketball teams and one filled with some close games.
The Lady Rebels opened the week with a 47-16 win over Deer Creed before falling 41-37 to Benton and 48-46 to Central Holmes.
The Carroll boys lost 44-41 to Deer Creek and 47-44 to Carroll before they bounced back and beat Central Holmes 44-39.
Carroll has three games scheduled for this week, hosting Indianola on Tuesday, Calhoun on Thursday and Hebron on Friday.
Carroll girls 47, Deer Creek 16
The Lady Rebels had little trouble with the Lady Warriors as they cruised to a 31-point win.
Carroll outscored Deer Creek in every period, taking the first period 16-5 and the second 11-6 to lead 27-11 at the half. The Lady Rebels continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring Deer Creek 10-3 in the third and 10-2 in the fourth for the final margin.
Makenzie Reeves led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points while Carlie Hoover had nine points. Olivia Whitworth had seven points while Nevaeh Wolfe had six points. Ann Shelby Whitworth and Katherine Mullins each had five points apiece.
Deer Creek boys 44, Carroll 41
The Warriors built an early lead and held on to take a tight three-point win over the Rebels on Monday.
Deere Creek jumps out to an 11-2 lead in the first period and then outscored Carroll 14-10 in the second period to lead 25-12 at the half. But Carroll got in gear as they outscored Deer Creek 21-7 in the third period to take a 33-32 lead into the fourth period. Deer Creek then outscored Carroll 12-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Carroll had a balanced scoring attack as Nathan Matthews, Cohen Blaylock and Reed Thomas each had 10 points apiece. Logan Upchurch also had eight points.
Benton girls 41, Carroll 37
The Lady Raiders pulled away late to take a four-point win over the Lady Rebels on Thursday.
Benton led 14-13 at the end of the first and then outscored Carroll 11-5 in the second to lead 25-18 at the half. Carroll then outscored Benton 11-3 in the third to take a 29-28 lead going into the fourth. Benton then outscored Carroll 13-8 in the fourth for the final margin.
Carlie Hoover led Carroll with 13 points while Olivia Whitworth had 10 points. Katherine Mullins had seven points while Madelyn Singleton pulled down 14 rebounds.
Benton boys 47, Carroll 44
The Raiders pulled away in the fourth and took a three-point win over the Rebels.
Benton led 8-7 at the end of the first and 22-18 at the half. But Carroll outscored Benton 20-14 in the third to give Carroll a 38-36 lead going to the fourth. Benton took the fourth period 11-6 to take the win.
Owen Garrett led Benton with 15 points while Reed Thomas has 12 points.
Central Holmes girls 48, Carroll 46
The Lady Trojans took a tight two-point win over the Lady Rebels last week.
Central Holmes jumped out to a 14-11 lead in the first period while Carroll took the second period 10-9 as the Lady Trojans led 23-21 at the half. Central Holmes then outscored Carroll 13-11 in the third to extend its lead to 36-32 going to the fourth. Carroll took the fourth 14-12 for the final margin.
Carlie Hoover led Carroll with 19 points while Madelyn Singleton had nine points and 11 rebounds. Ann Shelby Whitworth and Olivia Whitworth each had six points apiece.
Carroll boys 44, Central Holmes 39
The Rebels grabbed their first win of the season on Friday with a five-point win over the Trojans on Friday.
Central Holmes jumped out to a 17-6 lead in t4eh first period but Carroll took the second period 10-3 as the Trojans led 20-16 at the half. Carroll then outscored Central Holmes 9-6 in the third period and 19-13 in the fourth to take the win.
Owen Garrett led the Rebels with 16 points while Cohen Blaylock had 12 points.
