A planned clean-up day for the City of Winona, originally set for Saturday, has been postponed until Saturday, May 1 due to weather forecasts.
The “Pick Up Litter, Make Winona Glitter” clean-up day will be held on Saturday, May 1. Volunteers are asked to report to Winona City Hall on Summit Street at 8 a.m. for instructions and supplies to clean up the roadways citywide.
“It is a great day to take care of our community for our future generations,” said organizer Becky Flowers. “We need to get our community cleaned and keep it that way.”
The clean-up day is part of the city’s efforts to “Keep Winona Beautiful.”
Flowers said Carla Rawles with the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation office is providing garbage bags, goodie bags for kids, and is sponsoring an appearance by Smokey the Bear for the kids during the clean-up day. In addition, SuperValu has donated water. Ice cream will also be available to volunteers.
