The weekend of Labor Day, many will lead down Highway 51 to Lancaster Pecan Grove for the annual Bogue Creek Festival held in Duck Hill, sponsored by the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department. The festival will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4.
Miranda Dean said this year is the first year the fire department has solely held the festival. The Duck Hill Lions Club held the festival for years, and it was its only fundraiser until the club decided to part, due to their members getting older.
She said in 2019, before the Duck Hill Lions Club dispersed, the department held the event in conjunction with them. She said they were planning to hold in 2020, but had to cancel due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The festival serves as the biggest fundraiser for the volunteer fire department located in the Red Hill community in Northern Montgomery County.
She said there will be games, food and fun for the entire family.
“There will be bouncy houses, horse and train rides, a dunking booth, and several games for the kids, several food vendors and sanitation areas,” she said.
Dean said Jefferson Davis Road will be one way the day of the event and parking is the same as it has been for the festival.
