The Winona Lady Tigers had a rough week on the softball diamond as they lost all four games they played.
Winona lost 26-14 to Riverside, 16-5 to Nanih Waiya, 17-0 to Vardaman and 17-4 to Bruce.
Riverside 26,
Winona 14
Riverside scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to pull away and take a 12-run win over the Lady Tigers on Saturday.
Winona led 6-5 after the first inning before Riverside scored nine in the second inning to take a 14-8 lead after two innings. After Riverside scored one in the third, Winona answered with six runs in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 15-14. Riverside finished with one in the fourth and 10 in the fifth for the final margin.
Riverside outhit Winona 21-13 in the contest. Alexis Matthews was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Dorthy Martin doubled and drove in three runs. Aasjahia Garron was 2-for-3 with three runs scored while Sarah Winters homered, scored three runs and had three RBIs.
Olivia Swindle and Alexis Matthews each pitched for Winona.
Nanih Waiya 16, Winona 5
The Lady Warriors scored 11 runs in the fifth inning to take an 11-run win over the Lady Tigers on Friday.
Nanih Waiya led 1-0 after one before Winona scored five runs in the top of the third. Winona answered with two runs in the third and fourth inning to tie the game at 5-5. The Lady Warriors finished with 11 runs in the fifth to take the win.
Winona had eight hits as Alexis Matthews was 2-for-3 while Dorthy Martin tripled.
Olivia Swindle pitched 4 2/3 innings while Marilois Ussury and Alexix Matthews also came in and pitched.
Vardaman 17,
Winona 0
The Lady Tigers only managed one hit as they suffered a three-inning, run-rule loss.
Vardaman scored six in the first, nine in the second and two in the third.
Alexis Matthews tripled for Winona’s only hit.
Bruce 17, Winona 4
The Lady Trojans opened with seven runs in the first and never looked back as they took a four-inning, run-rule win over the Lady Tigers.
Bruce scored seven in the first, two in the second and third, followed by six in the fourth. Winona scored two in the second and third innings.
Winona had three hits as Dorthy Martin was 2-for-2 and Sarah Winters singled and scored.
