In a significant step toward addressing the critical issue of domestic violence, the District Attorney of the 5th Circuit Court District and the President of the Carroll County Board of Supervisors have officially signed a proclamation declaring October 2024 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Carroll County.
This proclamation aims to raise awareness about the pervasive issue of domestic violence in our community and to encourage individuals affected by such violence to report incidents to law enforcement. It serves as a reminder that help is available and that no one should suffer in silence.
To further support victims, brochures outlining available resources have been placed in the Chancery Clerk’s office, where dedicated staff are ready to assist those in need. These resources are designed to inform citizens about local support services, shelters, and hotlines available to victims seeking help.
Carroll County Sheriff, Clint Walker; Chancery Clerk, Casey Carpenter; Carroll County Board of Supervisors President, Jim Neill; 5th Circuit District Attorney, Adam Hopper; Assistant District Attorneys, Mike Howie and Morgan Jackson; District Attorney Investigator, Dan Herod, and Circuit Clerk, Durward Stanton gathered for the signing, demonstrating a unified commitment to combating domestic violence in the area.
As the month unfolds, community members are urged to engage in discussions about domestic violence and to share information about the resources available to those impacted. Together, we can foster a safer and more supportive environment for everyone in Carroll County.
