The Federal Emergency Management Agency mobile unit is at North Carrollton Baptist Church at 300 George Street in Carroll County for anyone who needs to file an application for damage from the March 24, 2023, tornado.
“This mobile unit is here for applications and to also assist people of Carroll County with any questions they may have on the application process including answering questions from those who have filed and have received FEMA letters,” said Carroll County Emergency Management Director Ken Strachan.
There had been a disaster recovery center set up at J.Z. George High School that was in effect until May 4, 2023.
“I’m glad it worked to continue this effort with the mobile unit, and the mobile unit will be at the church through May 17,” Strachan said.
The hours of the mobile unit will be 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday’s 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
According to Strachan, there have been more than 500 applications in Carroll County. Eligible homeowners and residents with storm damage from the March 24-25 tornadoes can apply for FEMA assistance by visiting the Mobile Disaster Recovery Center. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is May 25, 2023.
“Through these efforts we want all eligible citizens to get their application in and any questions answered as we continue these recovery efforts,” Strachan said.
