The Winona Christian Lady Stars finished second in the Class 4A North State tournament that finished up on Monday.
Winona opened with a 4-2 win over Lee and then lost 8-1 to North Delta. On Monday, the Lady Stars came back and beat Carroll and Lee 12-6 each and then took a 9-8 win over North Delta before falling to Marshall 11-3.
The Lady Stars advance to the Class 4A state tournament at the Magee Sportsplex and will take on Tri-County, the No. 3 team from South, in a 1 p.m. contest.
Marshall 11, Winona Christian 3
The Lady Stars couldn’t hold onto an early lead as the Lady Patriots pulled away to take an eight-run win on Monday.
Winona scored two in the second and one in the third to lead 3-0. Marshall scored two in the fourth, four in the fourth and five in the sixth.
Winona had eight hits as Miranda McDaniel was 2-for-3 while Allie Rawles doubled and drove in two runs. Allie Leach also doubled.
Allie Leach started and pitched three innings while Brantley Stanford pitched the last three innings.
Winona Christian 9, North Delta 8
The Lady Stars avenged an earlier loss with a walk-off double by Lennie Wood with two outs in the seventh on Monday.
Winona trailed 6-1 before scoring five in the fourth to tie the game. North Delta scored single runs in the sixth and seventh while Winona scored two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Each team had 11 hits. Allie Leach was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Lennie Wood was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs while Sara Rawles was 2-for-4 with a double. Miranda McDaniel also doubled and drove in two runs.
Brantley Stanford started in the circle and pitched three innings and gave up five runs on five hits. Sara Rawles pitched the last four innings and gave up three runs on six hits.
Winona Christian 12, Lee 6
The Lady Stars doubled up the Lady Colts to take a six-run win on Monday.
Winona scored five in the first and two in the third to lead 7-1. They added three in the fourth and two in the sixth.
Winona had 12 hits as Hayley Beckwith was 3-for04 with a double and two RBIs. Allie Rawles was 2-for-4 with a double while Miranda McDaniel an Sara Rawles each had two hits. Lennie Wood also had three RBIs while Bella Roberts had two walks.
Brantley Stanford started in the circle and pitched three innings, giving up five runs on six hits. Sara Rawles pitched the last five innings and gave up one run on five hits while striking out six.
Winona Christian 12, Carroll 6
The Lady Stars doubled up the Lady Rebels and banged out 18 hits to take a win on Saturday.
Carroll scored two in the first while Winona answered with eight in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth and sixth. Carroll added two in the fourth and fifth.
Winona had 18 hits, led by Teri Cain who was 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Lennie Wood was 3-for-5 while Miranda McDaniel was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Bella Roberts was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Allie Rawles was 2-for-4. Brantley Stanford pitched all seven inning and gave up six runs, only one earned on seven hits.
North Delta 8, Winona Christian 1
The Lady Stars were sent to the loser’s bracket with a second-round loss on Saturday.
Winona scored its only run in the second and had four hits.
Bella Roberts was 2-for-3 with a home run and double while Lennie Wood also doubled.
Sara Rawles pitched all seven innings and gave up eight runs on eight hits and struck out seven.
Winona Christian 4, Lee 2
The Lady Stars opened the North 4A Tournament with a two-run win over Lee on Saturday.
Lee scored one in the first while Winona score four in the third.
Winona had eight this as Miranda McDaniel was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Hayley Beckwith was 2-for-3 with a double.
Sara Rawles pitched all seven innings and gave up two runs on four hits and struck out nine.
Bayou 14, Winona Christian 12
The Lady Colts won in a shootout on Monday, despite being outhit.
Winona scored three in the second and fourth with two in the third, sixth and seventh.
Winona outhit Bayou 20-13 in the contest. Lennie Wood was 3-for-5 with two RBIs while Sara Rawles was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Miranda McDaniel was 3-for-5 with two RBIs while Bella Roberts was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Allie Leach was 2-for-5 with two RBIs while Allie Rawles was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Kaylah Varnes was also 2-for-4 while Teri Cain scored three runs.

Winona Christian 15, Greenville St. Joseph 0
The Lady Stars allowed just one hit in a three-inning, run-rule win on Tuesday.
Winona scored 15 runs in the first inning and had nine hits in the contest.
Allie Rawles was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Haley Beckwith was 2-for-2 with a double while Bella Roberts was 2-for-2 with a triple. Lennie Wood was 2-for-3 and scored three runs. Olivia Brooks homered and drove in three runs while Katy Ware, Allie Leach, Miranda McDaniel and Sara Rawles also scored two runs apiece.
Sara Rawles pitched all three innings and gave up one hit and struck out six.
Pillow 12, Winona Christian 1
The Lady Stars finished the regular season with a run-run loss to the Lady Mustangs on Wednesday.
Pillow scored three in the first and third and five in the fourth.
Winona had just two hits as Lennie Wood doubled and drove in a run while Bella Roberts singled and scored.
Allie Leach started and pitched 3 1/3 innings while Brantley Stanford pitched the last 2/3 of an inning
