The Winona Christian tennis team kicked the season off with a tight win over Oak Hill on Tuesday.
The Stars dominated the doubles action as they won all five points and took a 5-4 win over Oak Hill on Tuesday.
Winona Christian has two matches scheduled for this week as they are scheduled to host Magnolia Heights on Monday and host Grace Christian on Thursday.
They will return from Spring Break and play at Canton on Monday, March 21 and at Greenville St. Joseph on Thursday, March 24.
On the girls’ side, Winona Christian won both doubles matches as Allie Rawles and Bella Roberts won 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 doubles, Lucy Oliver and Piper Davis won 6-0, 6-0.
In girls’ singles, Marla Ray McKnight lost 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot while Makayla McDaniels lost 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot.
In mixed doubles, John Carter Walker and Olivia Brooks took a 6-2, 6-1 win to help Winona Christian secure the team win.
On the boys’ side, the Stars also swept the doubles action. At the No. 1 spot, Reece Cooper and Deuce Mooneyham won 1-6, 7-6 (4) and 11-9 in a third-set tiebreaker. At the No. 2 spot, Trager Yeoman and Jack Sorgen won 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot.
In boys’ singles, Eli Lewis lost 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot while Riley Harvel lost 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
