The Winona High School tennis team, under the direction of Ben Burton, was able to get in two matches last week.
Winona took on French Camp Academy last Thursday, a 7-0 decision for the host school.
In boys singles, Winona’s Kirven McCrory lost to French Camp’s Brennan McGlothin 6-0, 6-4, and in girls singles, Murry Catherine Alderman dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to French Camp’s Grace Ann Wade.
In No. 1 boys doubles, Winona’s McCrory and Jemarius Sanders fell to Jacob Creswell and Andrew Bain 6-1, 6-2. In No. 2 boys doubles, the Tiger duo of Gunner Wilkes and Javien Jackson lost 6-3, 6-0 to Payton Breazeale and Connor Privitt.
In No. 1 girls doubles, Winona’s Radleigh Woods and Janey Beth McRae lost to Anna Leigh Bain and Kate Hudson 6-0, 6-0. In No. 2 girls doubles, French Camp’s McKinley Wade and Ellie Develin beat Lana Branch and Rhianna Drake 6-0, 6-2.
In mixed doubles, Winona’s Jordan Leech and Molly Tompkins lost to Raney Peacock and Cameron McDaniel 6-1, 6-2.
Winona squeezed in a match with Bruce High School last Friday. It was scheduled to be played on Feb. 22, but weather forced the postponement.
The Tigers won the match 6-1 with the only loss coming in No. 2 girls doubles.
In boys singles, McCrory beat Bruce’s Jared Liles 6-2, 6-1, and in girls singles, Alderman shut down Abbygale Meddor 6-2, 6-0.
In No. 1 boys doubles, Sanders and Kristian Williams defeated Tyler Turner and Chris Ford 6-2, 6-0. In No. 2 boys doubles, Wilkes and Jackson won their match 6-1, 6-1 over Bruce’s Ian Miller and Peyton Futor.
In No. 1 girls doubles, Woods and McRae beat Rena Claire Perkins and Josey Clark 6-0, 6-3. In No. 2 girls doubles, Bruce’s Sara Parker and Harley Austin won 6-1, 6-2 over Branch and Drake.
In mixed doubles, Winona’s Leech and Tompkins won their match 6-2, 6-0 over Simba Campbell and Gabbie Moore.
Winona visits Kosciusko Thursday.
