The Lady Tigers had their season come to an abrupt halt as they were swept by Mantachie High School in a first-round North 3A fast-pitch softball series last Friday and Saturday.
Mantachie won the first game on Friday, 17-0, limiting Winona to two hits. Dorothy Martin and Emma Marshall had a single each. Mantachie scored one run each in the first and second innings, nine in the third and six in the fourth. The Lady Tigers made seven errors in the field.
Olivia Swindle took the loss in the circle, allowing all 17 runs (10 earned) on 13 hits, walking one.
Mantachie no-hit Winona in the second game as it won 15-0 Saturday in Mantachie. The home team scored five runs in the first, seven in the second and three in the third.
Swindle started in the circle, recording just one out. She allowed five runs (three earned) on one hit, walking three. Madison Henderson went 2 1/3 innings, giving up 10 runs (five earned) on seven hits, walking one.
Winona ends its season with a 9-13 record.
