The Winona Christian boys won two out of three games this past week.
The Stars split a pair of district contests as they hammered Central Holmes 66-34 but lost 68-47 to Greenville St. Joseph. The Stars also took a big 62-60 win over Marshall in non-district play.
The Stars are now 13-7 on the season and 5-2 in district play with both losses coming to St. Joe. The Stars will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming district tournament, which will be hosted by St. Joe next week.
Winona Christian finished the regular season out this week as they traveled to Central Holmes on Monday and host Manchester on Tuesday night for Senior night.
Winona Christian boys 66, Central Holmes 34
The Stars outscored the Trojans in each of the first three periods and cruised to a 32-point win on Tuesday.
Winona led 20-11 at the end of the first period and then outscored Central Holmes 21-8 in the second to lead 41-19 at the half. Winona put the game away in the third period as they outscored Central Holmes 20-9 to lead 61-28 going to the fourth. Central Holmes took the fourth 6-5 for the final margin.
Jake Ware had another big game with 23 rebounds, six assists and four rebounds. Reese Johnson had 19 points and 14 rebounds while Collin Parkinson had nine points, four assists and three steals. Jack Sorgen had six points, five rebounds and three assists while Landon Bland chipped in four points.
Winona Christian boys 62, Marshall 60
The Stars used a big second period to take an early lead and held off a furious rally by the Patriots to take a two-point win on Thursday.
Marshall led 12-9 at the end of the first period before Winona outscored the Patriots 26-11 in the second to lead 35-23 at the half. Winona extended its lead in the third period as the Stars outscored the Patriots 17-15 to lead 52-38 going to the fourth. Marshall then outscored WCS 22-10 in the fourth for the final margin.
Jake Ware led the Stars with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Collin Parkinson had 16 points and six rebounds while Jack Sorgen had nine points. Reese Johnson had a solid night with seven points and eight rebounds while Landon Bland had five points and six rebounds.
Greenville St. Joseph 68, Winona Christian 47
The Irish took an early lead and held that advantage as they took a 21-point win over the Stars on Friday.
St. Joe opened up a 17-9 lead in the first period and outscored Winona 14-13 in the second to lead 31-22 at the half. St. Joe put the game away in the third as they outscored WCS 23-10 to take a 54-32 lead. Winona took the fourth period 15-14 for the final margin.
Jake Ware led Winona with 14 points, three rebounds and three steals while Collin Parkinson had 13 points and four rebounds. Reese Cooper also pulled down 14 rebounds for the Stars.
