The Winona Christian girls completed a perfect run through District 2-3A competition.
The Lady Stars finished off district play with a 46-23 win over Central Holmes and finished up regular-season play with a 56-43 win over Manchester.
The Winona Christian boys had another good week as well as they beat Central Holmes 63-47 and Manchester 65-26.
The WCS girls are the No. 1 seed heading into this week’s district tournament and will face the winner of the St. Joseph and Indianola game on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph. The girls championship game will be Friday at 6:30 p.m.
The WCS boys will be the No. 2 seed and will play Indianola on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. With a win, the Stars would advance to the district championship game at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
Winona Christian girls 46, Central Holmes 23
The Lady Stars dominated the first three periods and cruised to a 23-point win over the Lady Trojans.
Winona jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first period and outscored Central Holmes 13-6 in the second to lead 27-10 at the half. The Lady Stars put the game away in the third as they outscored the Lady Trojans 15-6 to lead 42-16 going to the fourth. Central Holmes took the fourth period 7-4 for the final margin.
Bella Roberts had 23 points, nine rebounds and five steals to lead the Lady Stars while Audrey Eldridge had 11 points and five rebounds. Olivia Brooks had five points, three steals and three rebounds for the Lady Stars.
Winona Christian boys 63, Central Holmes 47
The Stars overcame an early deficit and got three double-doubles as they rolled to a 16-point win over the Trojans.
Central Holmes led early as they outscored Winona 11-8 in the first period. The Stars then outscored the Trojans 21-10 in the second period to take a 29-21 lead at the half. The Stars continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring the Trojans 17-13 in each the third and fourth periods.
The Stars had a balanced scoring attack in the contest. Jake Ware had a big night with 13 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists and five steals. Landon Bland also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Reese Johnson had the other double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Jack Sorgen had 10 points. Collin Parkinson had nine points, six rebounds and three assists.
Winona Christian girls 56, Manchester 43
The Lady Stars got a big game from Bella Roberts as they took a 13-point win over the Lady Mavericks.
In a tight first half, Winona outscored Manchester 14-8 in the first and 12-10 in the second to take a 26-18 lead at the half. Both teams scored 17 points in the third period while the Lady Stars outscored the Lady Mavericks 13-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Bella Roberts had a huge night with 31 points, eight rebounds, six steals and six assists. Audrey Eldridge had 14 points and seven rebounds while Olivia Brooks had 10 points, three steals and three assists. Autum Lishman also had five rebounds and three assists.
Winona Christian boys 65, Manchester 26
The Stars exploded in the first period and cruised to a 39-point win on Tuesday.
Winona jumped out to a 21-2 lead in the first period and outscored Manchester 16-10 in the second to lead 37-12 at the half.
The Stars continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring the Mavericks 19-6 in the third and 9-8 in the fourth.
Reese Johnson led with 14 points and eight rebounds while Collin Parkinson had 13 points and 2assists. Jake Ware had nine points, 11 rebounds, f4 steals and 3 assists. Reese Cooper had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.
