The Carroll Academy Lady Rebels kicked off the regular season last week and picked up their first win.
The Lady Rebels opened with a 23-4 loss to Pillow before beating Madison St. Joseph 9-6 on Saturday. They finished the week on Saturday with an 8-2 time-limit loss to North Delta.
Carroll will return to action this week as they host Central Holmes on Monday to open district play. The Lady Rebels will then host Pillow on Tuesday and then host Kirk on Friday.
Carroll 9, Madison St. Joseph 6
The Lady Rebels banged out 16 hits and scored five runs I the last two innings to take a three-run win on Saturday.
St. Joe scored one in the bottom of the first while Carroll answered with three in the top of the third. St. Joe answered with three in the bottom of the third to retake the lead at 4-3. Carroll tied the game with one in the fourth and then took the lead with two in the sixth. Carroll finished with three in the seventh.
Carroll outhit St. Joe 16-10 in the contest. Bella Carter was 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored while Meri Brynn Reeves was 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Presley Woods was 2-for-4 with a double while Peyton Perry was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. McKenzie Reeves was 2-for-5 with a double while Madison Whitfield was 2-for-3. Lexi McClain was 2-for-5 while Maggie Carter also scored two runs.
Perry pitched all seven innings for Carroll, giving up six runs on 10 hits while striking out six.
North Delta 8, Carroll 2
In a rain-shortened contest, the Lady Wave took a six-run win on Saturday.
North Delta scored three in the first and third with two in the second. Carroll scored its two runs in the third.
North Delta had seven hits while Carroll had two hits. Bella Carter doubled and drove in a run while Meri Brynn Reeves also singled and drove in a run.
Peyton Perry started and pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up five runs, only two earned, on six hits and two walks. Kaylyn Rose Wiltshire also pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on one hit and one walk.
Pillow 23, Carroll 4
The Lady Mustangs used bookend 10-run innings to take a five-inning, run-rule win over the Lady Rebels to open the season on Friday.
Pillow opened the game with a 10-run first inning while the Lady Mustang added one in the third and two in the fourth. Pillow then finished with 10 runs in the fifth to win by the run rule. Carroll scored two in the bottom of the first and one in the second and third innings.
Pillow outhit Carroll 18-5 and took advantage of five errors, seven walks and three hit batters.
Bella Carter led Carroll at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Meri Brynn Reeves was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored while Peyton Perry was 2-for-2. McKenzie Reeves also had a solo home run for the Lady Rebels.
Perry pitched the first four innings and gave up 16 runs, only six earned on 14 hits and five walks. Kaylyn Rose Wiltshire pitched the last inning and gave up seven runs, only two earned on four hits and two walks.
