The Carroll Academy girls have struggled all season with scoring points but their defense has been good enough to get them by.
The Lady Rebels opened the District 2-4A Tournament with a 40-26 win over Central Holmes but fell 32-26 to rival Winona Christian in the championship game.
The Carroll boys saw their season come to an end on Monday as they lost 60-53 to Central Holmes in an elimination game.
The Carroll girls advance to the MAIS Class 4A Tournament as the No. 2 seed and will take on Marshall Academy on Thursday at 4 p.m. at North Delta. If the Lady Rebels win, they would face the winner of Kirk Academy and Indianola on Friday at 4 p.m. The girls championship game is set for Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
Making the all-tournament team from Carroll was Dru Chamblee and Anna Laken Taylor.
Carroll girls 40, Central Holmes 26
The Lady Trojans struggled from the field and dropped a 14-point decision to the Lady Rebels in the opening round of the district tournament.
Carroll outscored Central Holmes in every period as they led 8-7 at the end of the first and 12-9 in the second to lead 20-16 at the half. The Lady Rebels continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring the Lady Trojans 9-4 in the third and 11-6 in the fourth.
Anna Laken Taylor led Carroll with 12 points while Dru Chamblee had 10 points. Meri Brynn Reeves had seven points while Mary Lakyn Boutwell had six points and Bella Carter chipped in five points.

The Lady Stars beat the Lady Rebels for the third time this season as they took a hard-fought six-point win in Friday’s district championship game.
Carroll led 8-6 at the end of the first period before Winona outscored the Lady Rebels 13-6 in the second to lead 19-14 at the half. Winona then outscored Carroll 5-2 in the second to lead 24-16 going to the fourth. Carroll then outscored WCS 10-8 in the fourth for the final margin.
Mary Lynn Boutwell led the Lady Rebels with nine points while Bella Carter had five points. Anna Laken Taylor, Dru Chamblee and Meri Brynn Reeves each had four points apiece.
Central Holmes boys 60, Carroll 53
In an elimination game, the Trojans finished strong as they took a seven-point win over the Rebels.
Central Holmes jumped out to a 16-11 lead in the first period but Carroll took the second period 12-11 as the Trojans led 27-23 at the half. Carroll then outscored Central Holmes 15-10 in the third to to take a 38-37 lead into the fourth period. Central Holmes then outscored Carroll 23-15 in the fourth period to take the win.
Mathis Beck led Carroll with 18 points while Noah Beck had 16 points. Drake Dunn had seven points while Brennan Blaylock had six points.
