The Winona High School and J.Z. George archery teams got their 2022 seasons going on Feb. 8 with a shoot at J.Z. George’s gymnasium in North Carrollton.
Pillow Academy also took part in the three-team shoot. Winona won the shoot with a team score of 2,595 team points. Pillow came in second with 2,573 points, and J.Z. George was last with 2,421 points.
For Winona, Luke Huffman was the top shooter for the males with a 274. Caleb Bullard shot a 266, and Cole Cochran and Wheeler Chandler had a 261. For the girls, Emma Marshall shot a 239, and Bailey Holly shot 221. Brycelyn Townsend shot 220, and Mackenzie Vance shot a 208.
For J.Z. George, Colten Acy was the top male shooter with a 262. Tyler Duren shot a 220, and Richard Foster had a 215. Mikhail Sanders shot 204, and Jayden Cornish shot 187. Charles Ansley shot a 186, and Jayden Stewart had a 173. Wesley Wilbanks shot 167.
For the girls, Emma Holdiness had J.Z. George’s top score with a 233. Christin Bankston shot 213, and Khadejah Davis shot a 187. Mackenzie Mims shot 174, and Rana Al-Rabahi had a 159. Abby Gail Clardy shot a 156, and Madison Chenault shot a 136. Jakilya Ghoston shot 96.
J.Z. George and Winona got together again last Thursday in a shoot at Winona High School. Winona had a team score of 2,851 points to J.Z. George’s 2,339 points.
Cochran led the males for WHS with a 269, and Jacob Bullard shot a 261. Caleb Bullard shot a 257. For the girls, Holly shot 252, and Vance shot 228. Townsend shot a 226.
For J.Z. George’s males, Acy shot 254, and Mason James shot a 229. Mikhail Sanders shot 205, and Duren shot 192. Foster had a 182, and Kelton Sanders shot 166. Ansley shot 156, and Elijah Fleming shot 149. Wilbanks shot 142, Stewart shot 138 and Cornish shot 138.
For the girls, Renee Bankston shot a 213, and Holdiness shot 211. Mims shot 192, and Al-Rabahi shot 174. Chenault shot a 165, and Clardy shot 154. Davis shot 145, Emily Follett shot 126, and Ghoston shot 116.
Winona is slated to shoot again Thursday against Pillow Academy.
