Weather forced postponements of nearly every outdoor sport for Winona High School and J.Z. George last week.
The Winona tennis team was able to play two matches, and the J.Z. George archery team got in a shoot at Water Valley.
Here’s a rundown of what went on for the various athletic teams last week:
J.Z. George archery
The Jaguars had a shoot at Water Valley on Feb. 22 as the host team came out on top 3,222 to 2,293 points. The scores from the top 12 were used for both teams.
For J.Z. George, Mason James was the top shooter with a 226 total. Mikhail Sanders shot 215, and Richard Foster shot a 203. Mackenzie Mims was the top female shooter with a 202.
Charles Ansley had a 197, and Christin Bankston shot a 196. Abby Beech shot a 193, and Rana Al-Rabahi shot a 179. Tyler Duren had a 175, and Madison Chenault shot a 171. Khadejah Davis shot a 169, and Emily Follett shot a 166 to round out the top 12.
Others who shot for J.Z. George were Dawson Mims (155), Abby Clardy (140), Jayden Stewart (134), Kelton Sanders (119), and Jakilya Ghoston (88).
The Jaguars archery team is slated to host Pillow and Winona Thursday.
J.Z. George softball
The Lady Jaguars games with French Camp on Feb. 21, with Byhalia on Feb. 24 and Holmes County on Feb. 25 were all canceled because of inclement weather.
Also, Monday’s game at home against Leake Central was called off because the grounds were too wet to play.
The Lady Jags are slated to host French Camp Thursday.
J.Z. George baseball
The Jaguars had two games canceled last week against McAdams on Feb. 22 and vs. Amanda Elzy on Feb. 25.
Their home game against Winona Christian School was postponed Monday because the field was too wet. The Jags are scheduled to go to WCS Friday.
Winona High baseball
The Tigers had a total of four games canceled last week because of the weather. They were scheduled to play North Panola on Feb. 22, Canton on Feb. 25, and Ethel and North Panola on Feb. 26.
The Tigers played host to French Camp Tuesday. They visit Pillow Academy Friday, and go to French Camp Saturday.
