On March 1 through March 3, the Duck Hill Piney Hills ATV Park will be holding a charity benefit trail ride where all proceeds will go to Kim Rice, a local retired teacher and avid equestrian, who is battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer. The park will host many smaller facets during the event, such as trail rides, wagon rides, a bake sale, a silent auction, and dinner. Saturday, March 2nd is when the bulk of events will be held throughout the day. The event has been organized and will be hosted by Angela Palmertree, Lisa Pickle, Kaylee Rice, Cherre Ware, Lauren Anderson, and Danielle White.
The idea of the benefit was a group effort according to Angela Palmertree, who stated that the Taylors offered the park for weekend use and everything else fell into place. The concept of a horse ride was attributed to being in relation to Rice’s personal love for horses. All proceeds from the weekend will go to the payment of medical bills incurred during her battle with cancer.
Hosts are hoping for major turnout from generous community members, Mrs. Palmertree stating they will “do what we can and hope everyone comes out to support her [Kim]”.
Cherre Ware also stated her interest in the event being for Rice as “She’s the nicest person you’ll ever meet and is always willing to lend a hand.”
