The Winona Library will be closed Monday, Feb. 21, in observance of Presidents’ Day. The library will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 22 with its regular business hours.
February is Black History Month. The library has on display books that celebrate the achievements of Black Americans and recognize the role of African Americans in U.S. History. This month the library is also focusing on African American authors. We have nonfiction and fiction book displays set up by African American authors in our easy and junior fiction area, as well as displays in our young adult and adult areas. Our nonfiction books include memoirs, self-help, finance, religion, relationships and cookbooks. Coloring and activity sheets on Black Americans are available for children at the front desk. Be sure to come in this month and tell us why you love your library and register for a prize to be given away at the end of this month. We also have Valentine give-away bags available for children. The child must be present to receive a bag. Our quantities are limited so only one bag per child please.
