Grassroots Blues starts Friday night

This Friday and Saturday, the Grassroots Blues Festival will kick off its 19th year, with big names set to perform.
Friday, Grammy Award-winning renowned bluesman, Bobby Rush, will perform Friday, and closing out the show Saturday will be the Oxford All-Stars.

Al White sworn in as Duck Hill’s new mayor

Thursday, Judge Mary Brown swore in Mayor Al White, Alderman Christopher Caldwell and Alderwoman Shernell Everett at a packed house at Binford United Methodist Church.
White, Caldwell and Everett were sworn in by their children and grandchild, Alejandro White, Crystal Caldwell and Jatya Boclear.
