The Winona Christian Lady Stars again dominated in doubles action as they claimed two individuals state championships.
The Lady Stars won both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles on the girls side as Bella Roberts and Allie Rawles easily won the state championship at the No. 1 spot while Olivia Brooks and Lucy Oliver also easily won at the No. 2 position.
On the boy side, WCS claimed another doubles title as Deuce Monneyham and Reese Cooper at the No. 1 spot.
In No. 1 girls doubles, Bella Roberts and Allie Rawles repeated as state champions. In the semifinals, Roberts and Rawles beat Laurel Christian 6-0, 6-1 win the semifinals and then beat Kirk Academy 6-0, 6-3 in the finals.
In No. 2 girls doubles, Olivia Brooks and Lucy Oliver also repeated as state champs. They beat Riverfield 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals and then cruised past Indianola 6-0, 6-0 in the finals.
In mixed doubles, Trager Yeoman and Piper Davis lost 6-2, 6-4 to Laurel Christian in the semifinals.
In No. 1 boys’ doubles, WCS came away with another event title as Deuce Mooneyham and Reese Cooper beat Laurel Christian 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals. In the finals, Mooneyham and Cooper took a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win over Oak Hill in the finals to capture the title.
In No. 2 boys doubles, Jack Sorgen and Riley Harvelle had an easy time in the semifinals, beating Laurel Christian 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the finals. In the finals, Sorgen and Harville lost to Kirk Academy as they fell 7-5, 6-7(7), 6-1 in a full third set.
In boys No. 1 singles, Jacob Lewis lost 6-0, 6-1 to Canton Academy in the semifinals.
