After almost two weeks of not playing, the Carroll Academy Lady Rebels finally got back to the field last week.
Carroll grabbed a pair of wins as they beat Winston 10-5 on Monday and St. Joseph 16-1 on Aug. 31.
Carroll is scheduled to travel to Greenville St. Joseph on Tuesday. The Lady Rebels will host the Carroll tournament on Saturday. They will play Kirk at 9 a.m. and Washington at 10:15 a.m. in pool play. Bracket play will begin at 1 p.m. while semifinal play will move to Carroll’s field. The championship game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Carroll 10, Winston 5
After falling behind early, the Lady Rebels finished strong to take a five-run win over the Lady Patriots in district play on Monday.
Winston scored two in the first and third and one in the second. Carroll scored two in the second, third and fourth and finished with four in the fifth.
Carroll had 10 hits in the contest as Bella Carter was 2-for-4 with a double while Shelbi Laine Kelly was 2-for-2. Mary Braxton Cobb doubled and had two RBIs while Peyton Perry walked three times and had three RBIs. McKenzie Reeves walked twice and scored two runs.
Perry pitched all four innings and gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out four.
Carroll 16, Greenville St. Joseph 1
The Lady Rebels used a pair of eight-run innings and took a three-inning, run-rule win over the Lady Irish on Wednesday.
St. Joseph scored one in the top of the first while Carroll scored eight in the first and third innings.
Carroll had 10 hits and drew eight walks. Lexi McClain was 3-for-3 with a double with two runs scored and four RBIs. McKenzie Reeves was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Presley Woods doubled, scored two runs and had two RBIs. Madison Whitfield and Shelbi Laine Kelly each scored two runs and had two RBIs. Bella Carter walked twice and scored two runs.
Peyton Perry pitched all three innings and gave up one run on two hits while striking out four.
