Carroll Academy’s girls fastpitch softball season came to an end over the weekend as they went 0-2 at the North 2A Regional Tournament, which was being held at Canton Academy.
Carroll (3-20) lost 9-1 to Benton Academy and 10-4 to Newton Academy.
In the first game, Benton plated two runs in the first, one in the second and six in the third. CA scored one in the fourth. Layla Neese (1-8) took the loss in the circle, allowing all nine runs on seven hits, walking three and fanning one.
Audrey Woods, Makenzie Reeves, Andie Milton and Nevaeh McCrory had a single each. Milton had an RBI, and Reeves scored the lone run.
Newton plated four runs in the fourth, one in the third, two in the fourth and three in the sixth. Carroll scored three runs in the third and one in the seventh.
Kaylyn Wiltshire (2-12) took the loss as she went six innings, allowing all 10 runs on seven hits, walking five and fanning five.
Reeves led the offense with a single, double and triple. She drove in three runs and scored once. Woods and Natalee Mitchell had a single and scored a run each, and McCrory had an RBI single.
Carroll closed out the regular season with games against Washington School last Tuesday and Monday. In the home finale on Tuesday, Washington beat Carroll 28-16 in an offensive slugfest. The Lady Generals tallied 10 runs in the first, nine in the fourth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh. Carroll scored five runs each in the first and third frames, six in the fifth and one run each in the sixth and seventh innings.
Reeves had three singles and two doubles, driving in two runs and scoring four times. McCrory had a single and double with three RBIs and scoring two runs.
Woods had two singles, scored three times and drove in a run. Emma Matthews had a single, three RBIs and scored two runs, and Neese had a single, two RBIs and scored a run. Wiltshire had a single, scored once and drove in two runs, and Gracie Murphy had a single.
Wiltshire took the loss in the circle as she went 4 1/3 innings, allowing 21 runs on eight hits, walking nine and striking out two. Neese went 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on one hit, walking seven and fanning one.
The Lady Rebels dropped a 10-2 decision last Monday to the Lady Generals in Greenville. Washington scored four runs in the second inning, three runs in the third frame and another three in the fourth inning. Washington was able to capitalize on five Carroll errors.

Woods and McCrory each had a single, with McCrory picking up an RBI.
