Winona High School’s baseball season came to an end Monday night as Kossuth High School knocked off the Tigers 19-4 at Winona’s field.
Kossuth, which beat the Tigers 13-2 last Thursday night in Game 1 of their MHSAA North 3A playoff series, advances to play Mooreville High School in the next round.
Kossuth tallied one run each in the first, second, third and fifth frames, four in the fourth and 11 in the sixth. Winona plated three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Wyatt Boone (2-5) took the loss as he went five-plus innings, allowing nine runs (six earned) on seven hits, walking six and fanning two. Hammond Austin worked the final inning, giving up 10 runs (six earned) on three hits, walking six and striking out two.
Alston Crouch had a single and double, scored a run and had one RBI. Gavin Vance had a single, RBI and scored once, and Jaylon Oliver had a single and one RBI. Jordan Richardson had a single and scored a run, and Boone and Kentrell Crawford had a single each. Miles Bailey scored one run.
In Thursday’s game, Kossuth scored five runs in the first, four in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth. The Tigers plated one run each in the third and fourth innings.
Vance (3-6) took the loss on the mound as he went three-plus innings, allowing 13 runs (seven earned) on six hits, walking seven and striking out four. Austin worked one inning, fanning one.
Alejandro White had an RBI single for Winona, and Crouch, Oliver, Boone, Kentrell Crawford and Darion Crawford had a single each. Bailey had an RBI, and Joe Reed Tompkins and Oliver scored a run each.
Winona’s defense committed four errors.
The Tigers end their season with a 9-15 overall record.

The Lady Tigers failed to record a hit or score a run against Nettleton High School in their second-round MHSAA North 3A playoff series last week.
Nettleton won the first game 12-0 on Thursday and 11-0 Saturday afternoon in Winona.
Madison Henderson started in the circle in the second game, allowing eight runs on five hits, walking two. Lindsey Berryhill went three innings, yielding three runs on four hits, walking one and striking out one.
Nettleton plated one run each in the first and fourth frames, seven in the second and two in the fifth.
Winona ends its season at 13-13 overall.
