The J.Z. George High School girls and boys basketball teams only played once last week as both teams took on Eupora High School Friday in North Carrollton and picked up wins.
The Lady Jaguars got 12 points and 10 rebounds from Makylah Banks in beating the Lady Eagles 51-20 to improve to 6-15 overall and 3-3 in Region 4-2A.
J.Z. George led 11-2 after one, 26-9 at the half and 36-15 after the third period.
Kyndale Edwards tacked on eight points, and Ty Meeks had seven. Dakiya Robinson had six points and five rebounds, and Leah Franklin had five points and five boards.
In the boys game, the Jaguars rallied from a 45-37 lead after the third period by outscoring the Eagles 24-13 in the fourth quarter to earn a 61-58 triumph.
Martavis Banks led J.Z. George (9-10 overall, 4-2 in region) with 16 points. BJ Green tallied 11, and Nicholas Lacey had nine points. Kanye Weaver and Joshua Fleming had seven points each.
J.Z. George, which played host to Philadelphia Monday and the boys took on Delta Streets Academy Tuesday, entertains Union High School Thursday to close out the regular season. The Region 3 Tournament, slated for Feb. 4-7, is being held at Sebastopol High School.
