The Jaguars of J.Z. George secured their first Region 4-2A win of the season by taking down Eupora High School 52-42 in a game played on Jan. 9 in North Carrollton.
J.Z. George (2-10 overall, 1-2 in region) trailed 11-10 after the first but took a 28-24 lead by halftime. The Jags led 40-33 after the third period.
D’Shawn Hemmingway had 22 points, and Nehemiah Williams tacked on 12 points. Martavis Banks chipped in six points for the Jags.
In the girls game, Eupora beat the Lady Jags 58-51 as the Lady Eagles (7-10, 1-1) led 17-12 after one, 29-24 at the half and 42-37 after the third.
Aaniyah Williams led the Lady Jags (1-11, 0-3) with 22 points. Kamya Lott had nine points, and Makylah Banks chipped in eight points.
J.Z. George, which was scheduled to host Union High School in a region game Tuesday, entertains Winona High School Thursday and Sebastopol High School in district action Friday.
