When we face hardships, it’s natural to feel uncertain or discouraged. But, as believers, we are called to lean on the Lord, our good and faithful Father. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” This truth assures us that no matter the circumstances, God is at work for our ultimate good.
I’ve recently been reflecting on the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3. When King Nebuchadnezzar commanded them to bow down to his golden idol, they boldly answered, “Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.” But what stands out even more is what they said next: “But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image.”
Their faith was not dependent on deliverance. They trusted God’s goodness and sovereignty even if He chose not to rescue them. This is a powerful example for us today. When we face trials, uncertainty, or unanswered prayers, we can hold fast to the truth that God is still good and worthy of our worship.
Our worship is not based on what God does for us, but on who He is. Our loving Father, our sovereign King, and our faithful God.
As you go through this week, be encouraged and comforted by the unchanging goodness of God. Trust Him, lean on Him, and know that He is working all things for your good.
