On June 26, the Holmes Community College Practical Nursing program held its annual pinning ceremony at the Attala Center in Kosciusko. The program honored 20 students who successfully completed the intensive coursework and clinical hours required for graduation.
The ceremony opened with a processional to “Pomp and Circumstance,” followed by the invocation led by Lakin Rushing. Class remarks were delivered by Cory Power, class president. The presentation of awards was made by Dr. Christi Blair. The Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony was directed by program instructors Amy Lindsay and Tammy Caldwell.
Several students were recognized for exceptional achievements. Alicia Zollicoffer was named valedictorian and received the Practical Nursing Award. Lakin Rushing earned the honor of salutatorian. The Citizenship Award was presented to Kayla Hodges, and Keorra Phillips received the General Excellence and Leadership Award.

The Practical Nursing program at the Holmes Attala Center equips students with the knowledge and clinical skills necessary for entry-level positions in healthcare and provides a strong foundation for those pursuing further education in nursing. The Benediction was lead by BreAnna McMillon followed by recessional music “Won’t He Do It” by Koryn Hawthorne.
